The replacement work is made more technically precise by the collaboration with The Gravity Group, the coaster design company that created The Voyage. Pre-cut track profiles made in accordance with contemporary criteria enable sections that exactly fit into the existing structure while enhancing the riding surface’s smoothness beyond what older sections could provide. The relationship between wheel profile, track form, and riding speed influences both comfort and the forces transferred through the ride structure, thus this is not just a cosmetic issue.
Over the course of future seasons, the accumulated stress on the surrounding wood is lessened by a smoother, better-fitting replacement portion. The infrastructure that supports all of this wood also receives attention. In an outdoor setting with substantial seasonal variations in temperature and moisture, the steel components of the supporting structure use hot-dip galvanizing to prevent corrosion that would otherwise necessitate more frequent intervention.

Perhaps the most noteworthy aspect of Holiday World’s strategy is the transparency that has grown around it. Many parks carry out maintenance tasks during the off-season without providing public records. Conversely, Holiday World has increased public understanding of what the off-season actually entails by disclosing track replacement data, providing photos of the work in process, and so on.
